Puppy Walker

Major Objective - Rear and socialize puppies from the age of six weeks to approximately 16 months.

Responsibilities
1. Puppy must have your company throughout the day. Can not be left alone more than three hours.
2. Must be able to stay home with the puppy or take the puppy to work with you. Must have flexible work environment.
3. Provide an appropriate amount of daily stimulation for the puppy.
4. Must be able to introduce puppy to all the social settings that a visually impaired person may encounter.
5. Must be raised indoors.
6. Must be able to perform 8 to 12 training walks per week.
7. Must meet with the Puppy Raising Manager once per month.

Qualifications
1. Provide good clean home for puppy.
2. Live within a reasonable distance from San Antonio.
3. Have transportation.
4. Complete Puppy Raiser Application.
5. Complete in home interview.

Training
1. Attend volunteer orientation.
2. Complete media release.

Time and Place
Monthly visits will be scheduled in advance.

Commitment
Provide a foster home for guide dog puppy for approximately 12 to 14 months.

Supervision
Direct supervision by the Puppy Raising Manager and indirect supervision by the Director of Training.
