Volunteer Assignment – Drivers
Major Objective:
Provide transportation for clients, to and from training sites, and visually impaired volunteers and staff to Guide Dogs of Texas events.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide transportation for client to and from training site.
2. Provide transportation for visually impaired volunteer or staff member to and from GDTx events.
Qualifications:
1. Be cheerful and have a positive attitude.
2. Have a good driving record.
3. Have a valid Texas driver’s license.
Training:
1. Attend volunteer orientation.
2. Complete media release.
3. Attend sighted guide training.
4. Attend blind sensitivity training.
Time and Place:
Times and locations will vary with the need of the client, staff or volunteer.
Commitment:
Provide transportation for the day or event.
Supervision:
Direct supervision by the Volunteer Coordinator and indirect supervision by the GDTx staff.
