Training Department Volunteer Opportunities

Breeding Program:

1. Brood/Stud Holder – adopt a dog for our breeding program; Commitment: dogs life (permanent home), as well as assisting in whelping and 0-8 weeks with puppies

2. Brood/ Stud Sitter – sitter for dogs in breeding program while holder is out of town; Commitment: whenever holder is out of town

3. Whelping Assistant – assists in delivering the puppies; Commitment: on call 24-7 but length of commitment is limited

4. 0 – 8 week puppy development assistant – assists brood holder with puppies between 0-8 weeks; Commitment: flexible & dependent on brood holder

Puppy Program:

1. Puppy Raiser – raises puppy between the age of 8 weeks old to 2 years old, preparing them for advance training; Commitment: 2 years, flexible and able to be with the dog 19 hours in the day

2. Puppy Sitter – watched puppies while raisers are out of town; Commitment: able to be with puppy 19 hours out of the day for a short term commitment (while puppy raisers are out of town).

3. Pawsative Approach volunteer – able to pick up dog from Dominguez or Travis County Jail for puppy walks or socialize in unique places; Commitment: open availability; used mostly when inmates are unable to leave the facility

Advanced Training:

1. Kennel Assistants – assist with varies jobs around the Kennel; Commitment: open availability

2. Boarders – board dogs in Advanced Training; Commitment: mostly weekend and sometimes during the week

3. Rehome – take care of a dog who is unable to be assigned to a client or has retired; Commitment – permanent home for the dog
